Taunton Racecourse is the youngest National Hunt racecourse in Britain and one of the most beautifully located courses in the country, with outstanding views across the racecourse to the wooded slopes of the Blackdown Hills, and yet only a few minutes drive from the centre of Taunton.


Dress Code for Taunton Racecourse:
While top hats are still a common sight at Royal Ascot and The Derby, you will rarely see them at other racecourses! Many courses do however have a dress code for the member's enclosure, which may insist on a jacket and tie for gentlemen. For many people dressing up is part of the fun of going to the races. If you would like some guidance, please phone the racecourse. Enclosures other than members do not impose a dress code, within reason! You should also make sure that what you wear is comfortable and suitable for the day. You will probably be spending a considerable time outside and on your feet, so give some thought to the weather and your footwear.

Directions to Taunton Race Course

Taunton Racecourse is on the B3170 road from Taunton to Corfe & Honiton,  approx 2 miles south of Taunton town centre. Leave the M5 at Junction 25, and travel towards Taunton, following the signs for Racecourse.

If you are travelling on the A303 or from Dorset or South Somerset, take the A358 which crosses under the M5 and pick up the Racecourse signs. For those travelling from North Devon or Minehead, the B3170 leaves Taunton from the traffic lights by the town centre Sainsburys.

There is no public bus service from Taunton to the Racecourse. A courtesy bus is provided, which will depart the railway station one hour before the first race, call at the bus station on route and return 30 minutes after the start of the last race.
